In Acts 13:1–12, Paul and Barnabas encounter Bar-Jesus, a false prophet who tries to turn Sergius Paulus away from the faith. This moment reveals a sobering truth: wherever the true gospel is proclaimed, another gospel rises to oppose it. In this message, we look at the danger of false gospels, the subtle ways they compete for our attention, and the deeper question beneath it all: do we truly know and love Jesus, or have we only grown familiar with the idea of him? The good news is that Christ has already won. Through the cross, Jesus defeated sin, death, darkness, and every power that fights for our hearts. The gospel lights the fire. Our love and intentionality keep it lit.
